New to yoga? Awesome! We all start as beginners. The Yellow Aura instructors are here to guide you each step of the way.

These FAQ’s below should ease the mind!

Q: How do I register for class?

A: You can download the MINDBODY Connect app to your smart phone `{`https://www.mindbodyonline.com/get-the-app`}`. The mobile app will allow you to view our schedule and register for class, right from your phone! You can also go to Classes/Schedule on our website and register from your computer. Forgot to register? No problem, the instructor can sign you in at the door.

Q: What should I wear?

A: I always suggest layers, as some of us run warmer than others. Rule of thumb: your base layer should be a t-shirt or tank top that is fitted enough to stay put in downward facing dog. Your clothing should be comfortable and allow you to move your body without restriction.

Q: Do I have to be barefoot?

A: I prefer to do yoga barefoot! You will get a better grip on your mat, if you are barefoot. Got cold feet? Look into purchasing yoga socks, which will allow you to still grip the mat.

Q: Do I need a yoga mat?

A: The studio has guest mats, but it is always nice to have your own! You might also consider bringing a bottle of water and a sweat towel.

Q: How do I find the studio?

A: Our studio is located at 27 N 2nd Street, Unit 101, Geneva, IL 60134. We are on the SE corner of 2nd Street and Hamilton. There is free street parking on 2nd Street and Hamilton. There is also a free public parking lot across the street from the studio. We use the back entrance! Please take the sidewalk off Hamilton to access the back of our studio, you will see the lighted pathway!

Q: What time should I arrive to class?

A: Try to arrive 10 minutes early to class. This will allow you time to store your belongings, check-in, and set up your mat.

Q: How long is class?

A: Each class is 60 minutes. Class ends with a peaceful relaxation, called Savasana. Expect to get out of class 5-10 minutes after the end time.

Q: What if I’m late?

A: Sorry! To ensure all yogis have an undistracted experience, we do close and lock the doors at the start of each class. We hope you can understand!

Q: What if I am unable to get into a posture?

A: No worries! Always be mindful of your joints and take care to guard your body from pain. Feel comfortable waving an instructor over to ask for a modification of any pose. If you are tired and need a rest, find your way to downward facing dog of child’s pose.

Q: What if I’m not flexible?

A: Being flexible is not a requirement! Yoga meets you where you are now. Yoga is a practice and with each class you take you will feel subtle changes in your mind and body.

Q: What are yoga props?

A: Yoga props come in the form of blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters. All props are used to help support your body and/or allow you to reach the ground to stabilize your pose.

Q: Can I practice yoga if I am pregnant?

A: All pregnant yogis must bring a release letter from their doctor for our files. Depending on your trimester, you might opt for a Restorative class. Please let the instructor know you are pregnant when you check in and call with any questions in advance.

Q: Are children allowed?

A: Children are welcome in our Free Community Class – Monday, 6pm. Please ask your children to be respectful of the practice. If they become tired, ask them to simply lay down and take a nap on their mat quietly. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
